Art Statement 

I participated in the James Museum 2026 Jamboree at the James. Each participating artist was tasked with completing a Route 66-themed painting based on their assigned city. My city was Tulsa, Oklahoma.

While researching Route 66, I became enamored with the large neon signs, statues, and attractions clustered in the Meadow Gold District of Tulsa. I chose to paint the Buck Atom's Cosmic Curios on 66 sign. Something about it speaks to me!

Buck Atom's Cosmic Curios on 66 is a beloved stop on the Mother Road.
The store is set in a classic 1950s gas station, enhancing the nostalgic experience. Although not depicted in my painting, it houses two Giant statues: The main draw is the massive Buck Atom (space cowboy) and Stella Atom (space cowgirl) statues.
